Salvation Army Women's Shelter

Shelter for single women age 18+.
The Salvation Army Womens Shelter, located in Seattle on Capitol Hill, is a low-barrier, housing-first shelter program that has been a safe haven for countless women over the past 20 years. The women we serve have been displaced for a variety of reasons - the reasons for their homeless status are as diverse as the women themselves. Our shelter provides a safe place for these women to live temporarily, and also assists them with placement into permanent housing. While in our program, the women receive other necessities, such as clothing, toiletries, food, access to laundry and showers, and ongoing support with case management and housing resources.

Our goals for each of these women is to develop a sense of stability, regain a sense of self-worth, and strive toward self- sufficiency.

We are also working with the community and other service providers to house clients who are participating in outside programs. We are strong believers in working with the extended social service community, and attempt to coordinate with other organizations, to best serve our clients' needs.

I found the shelter to be clean and comfortable. All staff are very knowledgeable, resourceful, and very caring about what is happening in people lives and what they can do to help. The only thing that was not very well was running out of supplies like, rags , paper towels, cleaning solution, toilet paper, those kinds of things , once aware they do what they can to rectify the situation. I felt very safe living there. I had to leave due to ex that is stalking me . He is jailed so i am going back to Seattle and would love the opportunity to work with the counselors regarding, housing, mental and physical health , resource programs. . I would recommend everyone that needs the help call Salvation Army and speak with and stay with them. Respectfully, Michelle Rowe Seattle

The Salvation Army shelter at Harborview has a mean spirited hostile Black woman running the front desk. She plays mind games to try and assert her power and tells people who she doesn't like and doesn't want inside the shelter there are no beds available. She picks fights with people she does not like because it gives her a power and feeds her ego. It's very difficult treating her respectfully because her atrocious behavior earns her none. She needs to be more humble with her attitude and grateful she has employment. She also needs to act more maturely around other people and quit behaving defensively because she feels insecure around others. A word to the wise: What you put out into the universe comes back manifold; so, treat others how you want to be treated.

I Currently Stay At Salvation Army Shelter At Harborview Hall And I Am Not Safe Here. I Wish I Could Transfer To Salvation Army Women's Shelter. I Would Feel More Comfortable Being Around Only Women.
