The Brisben Center is a safe, secure and supportive place where women, men, children and families without housing are provided shelter, a caring staff, a shower, a bed and meals, 24 hours a day/365 days a year at no cost to residents.
Brisben Center also offers a temporary platform with opportunities to regain housing, obtain a job, address challenges, acquire new life skills and get a second chance.
Admission Criteria
Must be at least 18 years old and homeless under the HUD definition.
["Literally Homeless Individual or family who lacks a fixed, regular or adequate nighttime residence, meaning: 1- Has a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not meant for human habitation; 2- Is living in a publicly or privately operated shelter designated to provide temporary living arrangements (including congregate shelters, transitional housing, and hotels and motels paid for by charitable organizations or by federal, state, and local government programs); or 3- Is exiting an institution where (s)he has resided for 90 days or less and who resided in an emergency shelter or place not meant for human habitation immediately before entering institution.]
Must be physically and mentally capable of independently providing adequate care for yourself and any children in Brisbens communal dormitory environment.
Do not present a threat of harm or danger to yourself or others, including clients, volunteers, staff or the facility.
Expectations
Agree not to consume alcohol or use illegal substances at the Center.
Willing to adhere to Center policies and staff direction as they pertain to facility operations, safety, security, and health matters; and obey applicable governmental regulations/laws.
Willing to treat other clients, volunteers, staff and the facilities with respect.
Willing to engage in case management services for housing and related matters. Actively participate in a housing stabilization plan.
Willing to commit to overcoming housing barriers and returning to permanent housing as quickly as possible.
