Magnificat Houses, Inc. (Admissions and Supportive Services)

Address
1410 Elgin Street
Houston, TX - 77004

They have houses for men, women and houses targeted to those with special needs.
All are safe, secure, and supervised 24/7.

All provide:
Nutritious home-cooked meals every day
Basic laundry services
Bed linens, towels

All offer time to adjust to new circumstances, and the opportunity to grow with their community.

What to Expect:
First, help you get your identity established. Then provide counseling to help you plan a promising future. Often help with GED completion and job searches. When ready, you may qualify for specific skills training at our Moran Center.

Of course, you will bring gifts of your own to share with the community: your experiences, your skills, your ideas, your willingness to help others like yourself. You will do your fair share to keep your home running smoothly.

Some residents stay until their immediate problems lift. Others find meaningful work within the community and stay with us, sometimes, for years, as family.

  1. I have stayed at Myriam' Hostel that is managed by Magnicat house and it was horrible. Even though they offered to extend my stay there, I refused. That's how bad the place is. Infested with bugs and cockroaches, and mental and psychological abuse by house leader who seeks constant adoration or else. I was refused food, water and even use of restroom, or laundry.

CORRECTED Program is not coherent. It did provide 3 days of shelter and requires an application for follow-up to be admitted to its 90 day - 30 days as a volunteer with the organization's in-house program. After those 30 days the promise was to be a 60 job placement training program. I realize the umber of persons applying may be far greater than the number of applicant. FOR THOSE THAT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, A PHONE CALL ADVISING THEIR DECISION WOULD HELP THE APPLICANT KNOW: 1.) THEY WERE NOT "DROPPED IN A CRACK"; 2.) THEY WERE NOT DEVALUED AS A HUMAN BEING, AND FINALLY THAT THE WAS IS NO NEED TO HANG ON TO THE HOPE OF BEING ACCEPTED BY THE PROGRAM....IN OTHER WORDS : DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HOPE THEY WOULD ,,,DO FOR YOU.
