Our Daily Rest

The 1-2-3- Home program is the main feature of our shelter and has been in place since we opened our doors on August 19, 2009. This program is specifically designed to aid our clients in their transition from homelessness to a life of self-sufficiency and financial independence. This program is completed in weekly stages over the course of our clients stay at Our Daily Rest, which usually lasts around four (4) months. Each stage focuses on a different lesson that will help our clients work through the reasons that have landed them at the shelter, and then focuses on how to change their lives to prevent these issues from recurring in the future. Through this program, our clients learn the importance of dedication, budgeting responsibilities and how to conduct themselves in a professional manner. In 2018, Our Daily Rest sheltered 164 individuals, including 8 children and 22 who were still in the program at the start of the new year.
Rapid Rehousing Oconee is a new program at Our Daily Rest, having just started September 1st of this year! This program helps those who are homeless by helping to place them in affordable housing, and then pays any initial utilities or deposits and helps cover the rent for up to the first three (3) months. The program also involves regular meeting with a case manager at Our Daily Rest, helping those receiving assistance set goals for their future to ensure the sustainability of their new arrangements by working these clients throughout 1-2-3- Home program. Rapid Rehousing Oconee can provide this support for up to ten (10) living units, which can be occupied by either homeless individuals or families.
