If you have stayed in this shelter, how was your stay?

User Answers

  1. Terrible. I was not given the resources I need. I was forced to attend church and there were no provisions given to the fact that I got sick in the shelter, went to the ER and was not properly treated. I ended up in a hospital in a strange place for a week, no one from the shelter checked on me and when I came back I needed help and assistance but none was given. I was in need of medications that I could not afford. I was subsequently thrown out.

  2. I stayed at the Hannah house with Ms. T being the manager. Terrible experience. She was a very mean lady that took all the nice things that was donated to the house. The curfew hours and cleaning were too much for me. The pastor in charge is very judgmental. The place feels a bit haunted. As a grown woman, I don’t feel as if you should have a 7 p.m curfew. I also understand the whole concept of learning about God but forcing beliefs on grown women is not called for. They also have a lights out at 10pm. For an institution that is said to practice “ Christian principles”, this place is completely hypocritical! They not only abuse the fact that you have no where else to stay by forcing you to do OTHER people’s chores on top of your own chores as well as working a 9-5. If you can find a family member or someone else to stay by instead of going here. Do so! Let this be the last option you choose.
