Homeless Shelter is provided for 40 men and 35 women and children. The length of stay is assessed on a case by case basis. Each person is assigned a case manager and together they develop a self sufficiency contract. During the course of their stay if it is determined that mental health and or drug and alcohol services are needed these services can be provided at Opportunity House through Berks Counseling Services. Assistance is provided with securing Social Security and other possible appropriate forms of financial benefits.
Others Services Provided
Counseling - one on one interaction with clients to help set goals and break them down into manageable steps. Some assistance is offered with resume writing and job interviewing skills.
Money Management - all clients are required to save a portion of their income in a client savings account to allow case managers the opportunity to teach needed budgeting skills, clear old debt and prepare for independent living.
Transportation - provided to and from medical appointments when needed Limited assistance is provided with job search.
Alcohol and Drug Treatment - mental health and drug and alcohol services offered on premises
Learning Center - 24 hour a day 7 day a week daycare services are offered to ensure that clients are able to work any shift
Aftercare - For those who move back into the community, continued counseling and money management services give them the ability to stay in contact with their case manager, offering assistance when it is needed so that long-term self sufficiency is encouraged.
