Sonshine Soup Kitchen

Meal Program
To fulfill the mission of the Sonshine Soup Kitchen, we serve a free, hot meal to anyone who enters our dining room Monday through Friday, between 4:30 and 5:30 pm.

Key Benefits

Free, meal served in a loving, safe, uplifting atmosphere.
We strive to provide healthy, balanced meals.
There are no requirements for coming into our dining room and eating, except for sobriety and good behavior. We will serve a meal to anyone who enters, no questions asked.
Capabilities

Fully Equipped Commercial Kitchen We have a fully equipped commercial kitchen and comply with all NH Health Codes, monitored by The Town of Derry Health Department.
Volunteers Are Always Welcome

Our program is run almost entirely by volunteers. Volunteer groups include churches, school groups, and individual volunteers. Anyone looking to perform community service, for whatever reason, is more than welcome to call our office at (603) 437-2833 during office hours, Monday Friday, 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and schedule a time to come in and volunteer.

Home Delivery
For Guests

We realize that at some point in time, those guests who frequent our kitchen may for one reason or another become unable to come into the dining room. For those guests who still require a meal, but cannot join us, we offer them this service. Each night, volunteers deliver meals to roughly one dozen homebound guests. The meal they receive is the same as the one they would receive if they had visited the dining room.

This service is available for a limited short-term basis to help clients get back on feet. Therefore, all new additions to our delivery program must be approved by our Operations Director, Christine Fudala. If you would like to receive a meal, please give Christine a call during office hours, Monday through Friday, 1pm to 6pm, at (603) 437-2833.

For Volunteers

We are always looking for willing and able community members to help deliver meals. All that is required is a willing spirit, a car, and one free night per month. We ask that drivers arrive between 4:45pm and 5:00pm on the night that they are scheduled. If you are interested, please give the office a call at (603) 437-2833.

Clothing Ministry
We offer a small clothing ministry that provides a limited amount of clothing and personal care items. Because we have limited space in our office, this ministry is relatively small. Donations are accepted, items that are not appropriate for our clientele, or if we have a surplus, are passed to the Marion Gerrish Thrift Store in Derry. Our clothing closet is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from
2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
