Our mission is Lifting those in need to lives of sustainable self-sufficiency.
Hope Harbor accomplishes this mission by providing services to needy and displaced homeless, near homeless families, women and children. We help meet their needs for safe shelter, meals, and supportive case management with a goal of obtaining permanent housing and becoming self-sufficient.
Emergency shelter provides a safe place to stay for the night. The program is a short-term solution for those in need of immediate housing. The shelter is located on the west side of the building.
Walk-in. No paperwork is necessary prior to check-in.

Donations Needed: Our shelter has an ongoing need for food, household items, and hygeine products. For a specific, up to date list of needs, please visit: http://www.hopeharborgi.org/donate/ Volunteers Needed: There is always a need for volunteers in the many facets of our organization. Please consider joining us in service. We encourage all interested individuals or groups to volunteer whether it’s for only one or several hours a month. Our needs are wide and varied as follows:
Donations/Food Pantry: Volunteer to help sort donations and help organize the food pantry.
Childcare: We have many children living in our transitional shelter. Some are infants and toddlers. Hope Harbor is in need of caring and fun loving individuals to watch the children from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday – Friday while their parents are attending classes here at Hope Harbor. You must be at least 16 to volunteer for childcare.
Maintenance & Clean-up: We have an endless list of projects. This is a great opportunity for school, business, community and church groups of 10 or more to help us maintain our facility. Times and days for these projects will vary and can be coordinated through our Development Director. All volunteers must be over the age of 15. Be prepared to get dirty.
Office Support: Assist with various projects such as typing, filing, mailings and answering phones. Volunteers who are available anytime Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. can either commit to a scheduled time slot, or can be placed on a list and notified when extra help is most needed. Professional demeanor and telephone etiquette is desired. Computer skills welcomed but will train for specific jobs.
