I didn't like it. There were too many harsh rules.
Amazing. If you NEED help, trust me- it’s a beautiful thing and a gift from God. For those saying “I didn’t like it, too many rules.” - what do you expect? Rules are there to keep it functioning on what donations and scraps are given. You aren’t entitled to a luxury hotel room where u can slob around or sleep all day and get drunk or high and come as u wish. It’s charity. Meaning, it’s GIVEN. Not owed. The only rules include respect, keep yourself and ur body clean, take a breathalyzer nightly or go back to the sidewalk and sleep it off. There’s kids. It’s not for drunks or junkies. In the morning u make ur bed and go to work or if u don’t, you’ll volunteer 6 hours. Cuz u need to. Ur getting a free ride and all they require is save 85% if ur money so you can have a future home, do ur 10 minute chore. Don’t think ur gunna get a free ride and waste ur own money on junk and being lazy, dirty, or intoxicated while someone takes care of u. God provides… pretty sure MOST people would be grateful for help if it were needed.
Just wanting to point out that whoever commented on Feb 23rd clearly lacks compassion or empathy for others and their struggles, and I hope for everyone's sake this person has absolutely NOTHING to do with this Women's and Children's shelter.
Don’t act entitled. Understand WHY you’re there and be grateful for the help. Respect the rules and think of what purpose they serve. Or help yourself.
As long as you are working your program, saving your money, respecting the shelter - they won’t kick you out.
