  3. I was safe... Find a "shelter-buddy" to watch your stuff and watch theirs (while in bathroom or shower, etc.). This has both men and women, since the Florence House Women's Shelter (Preble Street) only holds 40 people. During COVID the population has been limited to 75. We have a few hundred homeless adults in hotel rooms funded through FEMA.

  2. No limit... One of my says was for nearly three years. They now work to address needs and housing efforts using a long term stayers model (for about 3 or 4 years). Individual cases are reviewed on a by-name list weekly to find the barrier to a housing placement. A service provider (organization that is part of long term stayers group) is assigned to each individual to work on addressing the pertinent issue. Several hundred have been housed and 90 percent have retained that housing to date.

At Lancaster street, GA building... Not allowed to sleep because staff continue to wake those who fall asleep in an unauthorized mannor, (in more than one seat... Even if those seats are unused! Absolutely bull!

The problem with the homeless people is the space but most importantly the counselors who set there and collect a pay check when they dont help no body to try to get off the streets except african immigrants and most there are african who dont even english its sad and the American staff that work see it as as many homeless people that sign up for there help they get money for thru socail security but they dont help them at all its really corrupt there im glad that there is something coming to light but theres a lot thats untold.

The shelter needs staff that speak clear English when answering phones. Also staff need to completely clean and sanitize the common areas on a daily basis and check everyone for scabies on a daily basis upon entering the shelter, just like for Covid. Scabies are a real problem at all these shelters and this is just one of them that has a high occurence of it.
