A culturally sensitive, faith-based shelter home environment for homeless Muslim women and children and Muslim women victims of domestic violence allowing them to accomplish and/or return to self-sufficiency. Muslimat Al Nisaa is not a institutional shelter, but a home for those who were homeless.

Donations Needed: A few practical items needed would be:Two vacuum cleanersA washer & dryerA playground setA SUVTwo desktop computersSalary for a Professional Social Worker to provide Counseling and Case ManagementBut on a more urgent level what is needed is individuals to either donate the full cost of a house or to make pledges and/or contact others to make a pledge toward our modest budget of $3000.00 per month x 12 months to house refugees in a (second) secure location in the Washington D C area. All referrals come from government and community-based organizations in Washington D.C. that serve refugees. While the refugee agencies lead in conflict-generated displacement, they do not provide shelter. Volunteers Needed: Muslim women and children are homeless in America. Muslimat Al Nisaa, a provider of basic human needs of food and a shelter home environment, ask for your help and support by becoming Ansars (helpers). on their behalf. Muslimat Al Nisaa is not a 'soup kitchen'. Therefore, unless one is providing professional services or have undergone case management training in the care of homeless Muslim women or victims of domestic violence and/or are willing to offer a six month commitment, we do not assign direct service volunteers who could do more harm, eventhough their intentions are good. The only way to continually provide even basic human needs is through the financial support of our community.
