Hyacinth's Independent/Transitional Living Home positions itself as a transitional home for homeless victims who have maximized their stay at regular shelters, but still have need for accommodation and support services to live independently. Most Shelters accommodate clients for approximately 90 days.
If they are able to find alternate housing through case management support, they can transit out independently.
The reality is that most become "Shelter Shoppers", moving from one shelter to another or returning to their original conditions. While our home is set up for paid accommodation, we try to work within the clients' budgets and assist them to access social services benefits, employment and permanent housing.
Our objective is to subsidize any short falls through DONATIONS/GRANTS from individuals, businesses, government and corporations. There is no time limit on how long a person can remain in our home, once we can secure funding.
