Ashby House Family Shelter

Emergency Shelter. Every year at Ashby House, we strive to help families connect with our community.  At Ashby House, we firmly believe that connected families are strong families.

Ashby House Family Shelter is the only full-time family shelter in this area. The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day.  The shelter provides temporary housing for homeless families and single women. The shelter helps families survive homelessness and to re-enter the community with their dignity intact.

All basic needs are provided for at Ashby House, families pay nothing to live in our shelter. We are a family oriented shelter which provides a safe and secure environment for children while the family works toward self sufficiency and independence. A case manager is assigned to each adult living at the shelter. Case managers assists residents obtain medical and mental health care, apply for assistance, identify goals, set the timeline for those goals, budget, and assist with resume writing and successful job seeking.
ASHBY HOUSE DAILY SCHEDULE (Required):
    8:00am:   Breakfast over. Ready for the day.
    11:30am - 1:00pm:  Lunch
    4:00 pm: Life Skills class
    6:00pm:  Supper
    7:00pm:  Chores
    8am - 9pm:  Laundry room open
    9:00pm:  Bedtime (under 13)
    9:30pm:  Curfew
    10:00pm:  Bedtime (13 and older)
    10:30pm:  Bedtime for adults
    10:30 pm: Turn in cell phones

Bridge House Substance Use / Disorder Treatment Program
Ashby Houses Substance Abuse Treatment Program is a State Licensed Residential and Outpatient Treatment facility and is classified as a Designated Womens Program by Addiction and Prevention Services. The funding streams available are federal block grant (AAPS) and Medicaid. We serve women and women with children. Children can reside in our treatment facility with their mothers. Our building consists of 11 one bedroom apartments, designed to build the skills of independent, sober, family life. We use a Trans-theoretical Model of Change, and a Cognitive Curriculum that is gender specific and trauma informed. The Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Treatment modalities utilize this same women specific cognitive curriculum. Childcare is available for client's children during group sessions. Each woman is assigned her own Case Manger to help her connect with community resources.
