Emmaus Mission Center

The Emmaus Mission Center is a 501(c)3, non-profit, multi-denominational social service agency that was established to provide support for marginalized families and individuals within a fifty-mile radius of Cass County, Indiana.

The Mission clientele typically includes elderly people attempting to survive on minimal income, single parents unable to provide for their children, those homeless for various reasons and recent arrivals attempting to make a new start in the United States. Most are working poor and on the brink of financial and familial disaster.

The Homeless Shelter:
The Emmaus Mission staff provide residents with shelter, food, and clothing.

A six month program assists homeless individuals and families in finding employment, continuing education, working towards their G.E.D., obtaining permanent housing, improving life skills and solving individual crises.

All potential clients must pass a criminal background check before entering our facility to ensure the safety and security of our current residents.

While at our shelter each of our residents have their own area within shared, dormitory style rooms.

We have seven such rooms, six of which are located on our second floor and one located at ground level to allow us to house those clients who have limitations on their mobility and are unable to climb stairs.

We provide shelter for men, women and children and are one of the few shelters in our region that are able to house families in such a way.

 

Residents at the shelter are provided breakfast, lunch and dinner each day in our kitchen area.

Meals are usually prepared by the residents themselves although we are also blessed with volunteers who devote their time and culinary skills to our cause.

Much of the produce in our kitchen is donated by benevolent individuals in the local community although we do ask residents if they are able to help supplement our perishable products.
