Overnight heating and cooling center, where homeless individuals and families can stay from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
The purpose of the New Directions homeless warming and cooling center, is to assist displaced "homeless" persons in Jacksonville and the surrounding area with their emergency shelter related needs so they can become stable, functioning members of society.
How do I check in? Report to the Jacksonville Police Dept at 200 W Douglas by 6:30 pm. ID is required. You must pass a background check. This ensures the safety of other guests, volunteers, and employees. Once the guest receives written clearance, they can be admitted to the center.
What are the hours? The normal hours of operation ar 7 pm to 7 am, 7 days a week. Hours of operation will be expanded depending on the weather outside. Please call the number listed on this page when the weather is extreme to check on the hours.
You may stay as long or as short as you need to. We will ensure that an exit plan is in place upon your departure.
