Kings Manor (Basic Center)
The purpose of this Basic Center project is to increase the safety, well-being and self-sufficiency of runaway, homeless and street youth in the metropolitan Atlanta area where there is a demonstrable need for these services.
This Basic Center will fulfill the requirements stipulated in the Basic Center solicitation and the state of Georgia requirements. It will provide outreach and recruitment to engage youth using harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches and provide safe temporary shelter and living accommodations and other services for up to 21 days.
The target population for this center is males between the ages of 10-17. We will house up to 4 youths. The Center will provide services in the areas of outreach, crisis intervention, and aftercare services and youth development for runaway, homeless and street male youth. The services will also include substance abuse prevention information; medical and mental health information and screening; educational, employment, individual and group counseling and life skills training.
The shelter care services will be available 24 hours a day in order to meet the needs of youth. Staffing will be in accordance with the guidelines for Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs in Georgia and will include 1 Director, 1 Human Services Professional, 1 Lead Youth Care Specialist, 1 Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and 4 Youth Care Specialists to provide direct services to the youth and see to their needs. The Basic Center Program will use the Positive Youth Development approach to promote the healthy development of an estimated 100 runaway, homeless and street male youth residentially each year and outreach services to an estimated 150 runaway and homeless youth male and female each 12 month period. Initial assessment will be made for each youth participant and counseling and aftercare services will be provided to insure that the youth form connections to caring adults and become productive citizens.
Youth Connections, Inc. Group Home provides shelter and basic needs for runaway and at-risk youth. Kings Manor is a male only 24 hour emergency shelter, a safe place to refocus serving youth ages 10-17.

We partner with the Department of Labor, MANY, Future Foundation, STAND, Inc., and Atlanta Workforce Development Agency to bring Project Restore to assist ages 16-24 who have been involved with the juvenile or adult justice system overcome their challenges in life and become positive, healthy and fully participating members of society. Skills, trade training and job placement are core components.
