Pinellas Hope

Catholic Charities established Pinellas Hope in partnership with the interfaith community, local government, businesses and other not-for-profits to assist the homeless with 250 units of emergency shelter and 156 subsidized efficiency apartment units. Pinellas Hope is located in Clearwater (Pinellas Park) on the over 20 acres of land provided by Bishop Robert N. Lynch and the Diocese of St. Petersburg in 2007. Pinellas Hope was established to serve street homeless adults by providing temporary emergency shelter. Intake is facilitated by three Community Outreach teams. Residents are assisted with food, transportation, employment assistance and social services.

Pinellas Hope II is new construction which consists of 80 efficiency units. This project targets the special needs for homeless and 30% of the units are dedicated to those below 33% area median income for Pinellas County.  The development includes a community building which incorporates offices for service delivery by the agencies serving Pinellas Hope II residents. It also provides a common area, shared by Pinellas Hope I and Pinellas Hope II, in the center which allows class room style programs such as the current employment readiness program and financial management classes. Adjacent to the building and opening to the outside is a roofed, open-air pavilion to accommodate 350 in sit-down style meetings and provide a space for the residents to eat their daily meals. This facility also provides indoor showers and restrooms, laundry room, computer room, library and a prep kitchen.

The development shares the same pavilion, grilling area, and work out area as Pinellas Hope II. Its residents have access to the same agency services and communal buildings as do Pinellas Hope I residents.
