Federal City Shelter Washington DC

Located at 2nd & D, NW, spanning the entire block, and with the capacity to house well over a thousand people, Federal City Shelter FCS is the largest shelter in the country. JHP maintains a business center in the lobby that gives shelter residents access to free computers, internet, phones and office equipment; as well as, case management, counseling, and employment and housing assistance. JHP also provides outreach to the street homeless in the area and works in the hypothermia shelters during the winter months. The DC program provides services to over 300 people a year and places 140 people in jobs and 70 in permanent housing each year.

  1. Advice I got is just do what you got to do to get up out of there quick as possible ASAP.

  1. Not sure. They tell you one thing and do another. Similar people been in there for years don't want to go nowhere.

    I actually stayed in this shelter many years ago. I was there bout a wk. I had chores to do. I had to be out at a certain time and couldn't go back in til I think 5 pm. Different churches would pull up and invite you to their church. The shelter was really clean and well ran i admit for a body coming from another town

    Ccnv is one of the most best run shelters I have ever stayed in having been homeless in both Washington and New York City.l
