Provides a Homeless Shelter and Soup Kitchen.
Kitchen serving grab and go bags from the door from 3pm to 4:30pm daily. We are delivering grab and go lunches to Super 8 motel (the homeless from all the shelters in Danbury are being housed there) We are also supplying breakfast to the Super 8 two days a week.
Morning Glory is serving breakfasts at the door from 7:30am to 9am every Monday through Friday.
Guests wake up at 5:30am and are out of the shelter shortly after 6am. The early departure ensures that both guests and volunteers can get to work.
Breakfast is served seven days a week in the kitchen by Catholic Charities through the the Morning Glory breakfast program. A nutritious breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9am.
Shortly after noon the kitchen crew arrives to prepare lunch. At 3:15 the doors open and the meal is served. A complete hot meal is served with salad and dessert. Guests may take sandwich bags with them when they leave. We stop serving meals at 4:45pm and cleanup is usually finished by 5:30, at which time the kitchen crew leaves for the day.
During the winter months, the Shelter from the Cold program (currently run out of Saint James AME Church) opens at 6pm and guests can get out of the cold for a few hours until the shelters open.
At 9pm, guests are admitted to the shelter. The shelter has separate bathrooms for men and women, and shower facilities. Lights go out around 9:45pm and the shelter volunteer does a load of guest laundry before catching a few hours of sleep.
