The Delores Project Shelters

Provides both an emergency shelter and an extended stay shelter.

Emergency Shelter

Emergency Shelter is available on a first come, first serve basis available for up to a week at a time.

Guests staying in the emergency shelter receive meals, access to hot showers, bus tickets, access to health services, toiletries, a clean bed, a phone for local calling, limited referrals to community support services and the option to be placed on a wait list for our transitional programs.

Guests actively participate in shelter chores and our Guest Advisory Committee and are encouraged to foster a positive, safe and hospitable environment at our shelter. As we are an undisclosed location, individuals can access our shelter by calling and requesting a bed on Monday mornings. More information about our Emergency Shelter Program and how to access it can be found here.

Extended Stay Shelter

We offer a variety of programs for guests who receive case management from us or from a partner program. These guests receive all of the services noted above for our Emergency guests, alongside the ability to stay at The Delores Project as long as they are moving towards stability. Below is an overview of the three Extended Stay Programs we offer:

Steps to Stability Program: Guests in our Steps to Stability program receive robust and creative case management from our Transitional Advocate. 22 of our beds are reserved for this program that helps participating guests assess their strengths/needs, develop an individualized plan for taking steps towards self-defined goals and offers ongoing services to help guests progress towards stability. This program is accessible to our Emergency Guests who are looking for a program that meets their needs. Information on our Steps to Stability Program and how to access it can be found here.
Community Partners Program: We reserve approximately 15 of our extended-stay shelter beds for women and transgender individuals receiving case management and specialized support services through a partner agency. The individuals Case Manager works with our Shelter Manager to ensure the guest is moving forward towards stability. More information on our Community Partners Program including how to access it can be found here. Please note that the waitlist for our Community Partners Program is currently closed.
Community Transitions Program: The remaining five shelter beds are reserved for women and transgender individuals who require safe shelter and emergency services after being released from the Department of Corrections. These guests work exclusively with a Community Reentry Specialist or a Probation Officer to accomplish individualized goals once referred to our program. The Specialist works closely with our Shelter Manager to ensure the guest is moving forward towards stability. More information on our Community Transitions Program including how to access it, and a referral form, can be found here.
