Food Project is located at the 1st Congregational Church, North Adams.
Now 25 years old, Berkshire Food Project is more than a soup kitchen. As the economy has worsened, we are serving more than 150 people per weekday. While the need has grown, donations have not kept up. The Project is located at First Congregational Church in their Assembly Hall and kitchen. The Project itself is not religiously affiliated.
We believe in the basic dignity of all those who join us for food and community each weekday. Our meals are sit-down, served to each person, and made of wholesome ingredients designed to provide a balanced meal -- often the only meal that a person will have that day. We rely upon cash donations and grants, upon donated food from local organic farms, local food purveyors and restauranteurs, and from Williams College and other institutions. Berkshire Food Project came into being because of Williams College students who cared.
